WikiProject Opera

As a regular participant of WikiProject Opera for the last 8 years, I have removed the banner for WikiProject Opera. Project banners are not categories. They indicate which projects consider it within their scope and are prepared to look after the article. Michael McCarthy is a musical theatre performer. WikiProject Opera includes in its scope only those singers whose principal career, or a significant proportion of it, has been as an opera singer. His appearance at the age of 15 in an "ensemble" in Rigoletto, not even a named role which indicates either a chorus member or a walk-on role, and one principal role in Inkle and Yarico do not qualify him as an opera singer. The Edinburgh Fringe production of Inkle and Yarico was scored and performed as a musical and repeatedly described as such in the review. The production was only based on the story of the original opera and was entirely re-composed. The fact that it had a live link to Covent Garden has nothing to do with the Royal Opera House which happens to be located in Covent Garden. For further reading on the larger issue of inappropriate project tagging see Wikipedia:PROJSCOPE. Voceditenore ( talk) 06:35, 6 October 2016 (UTC) reply

Merge: Michael McCarthy professional credits into this article

The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived: While there appeared to be consensus for a merge, the prosper was blocked and the action wasn't taken in 7+ months

Hello, I have proposed to merge the professional credits article into this one. There is no need for a seperate Wikipedia page. Sxologist ( talk) 00:48, 3 September 2020 (UTC) reply

  • Support. And all of the credits for the same role in virtually the same production need to be combined under one entry, not an entry for each venue and each year. Softlavender ( talk) 10:45, 20 September 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Support per Softlavender. Spleodrach ( talk) 09:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Bump. @ Softlavender: and @ Spleodrach:. It's been 6 months this thread was opened. I was going to ping the proposer of the merge (to see if they planned to close and complete the proposed action) but it seems the user has been blocked for multi-account abuse. If anyone else is in a position to complete the merge, that'd be great. Otherwise we may as well close this thread and remove the tags. (While there is no time limit on tags/discussions of this type, more >6 months would seem more than sufficient.) Guliolopez ( talk) 01:42, 5 April 2021 (UTC) reply
    • Hi Guliolopez. Just go ahead and merge and remove tags. The credits seem overblown and self-sourced. I'm not sure they should all be on Wikipedia. Softlavender ( talk) 22:25, 11 May 2021 (UTC) reply
