I suspect that Metropolitan West Financial may still exist in some form or another. According to the Wachovia press release, Wachovia only acquired one of their affiliate companies: Metropolitan West Securities LLC. The other affiliate companies included
Metropolitan West Asset Management and
Metropolitan West Capital Management, which still appear to be in existence. However, according to the WayBack Machine, the
main corporate website bit the dust in 2003, without any indication of the final status of the holding company.
