Motor(s)?

The image is captioned "motor", yet it's in the body of the loco, not the bogies.

Is this really the motor? - implying that these are B-B locos, with some form of mechanical transmission. Or are they Bo-Bo, with per-axle traction motors. In which case, what's the electrical equipment seen here? Bearing in mind that these are low voltage DC third rail locos, presumably without rectifiers or transformers.
