Equality 7-2522, regarding this, keep in mind what Template:Globalize states about whether or not there are other views on the topic in other countries. The terms men who have sex with men and women who have sex with women are mainly American (meaning United States) terms. Flyer22 Reborn ( talk) 17:25, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
Human10.0 Hello! On request [1] , you can find the answer here [2]. -- Путеец ( talk) 13:22, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
I have added a verification needed tag at the end of this statement. I would like fellow editors to check both the cited sources and verify if they do state that unprotected anal sex between MSM results in production of specifically anti-sperm antibodies and that this causes infertility in MSM. From my hurried reading of the cited study (Restrepo & Cardona-Maya, 2013), I could not find evidence to corroborate the claim that anal sex between men produces specifically anti-sperm antibodies, nor that those antibodies cause infertility in MSM. I will give the study a detailed reading later but I would like other editors to verify the sources too. — Human10.0 ( talk) 13:26, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Requests are at the beginning of this topic. I propose to consider this article as a source. It describes well the health problems and the protection of LGBT rights. Sample: "In the United States, LGBTQ persons experience barriers to accessing health insurance coverage and may forgo care because of costs (some insurers do not cover domestic partners, and most do not cover mental health services, hormone therapy, or gender affirmation surgery). LGBTQ patients are more likely to remain silent about important health issues they fear may lead to stigmatization. Despite the critical need for health care in the LGBTQ community, structural (eg, cost) barriers to health care information and treatment significantly contribute to the avoidance or delay of seeking health care. Many health care professionals lack knowledge of LGBTQ persons’ health care needs, and some have negative attitudes toward them.13 Studies report a lack of trust and understanding in physician‐patient relationships because the patient fears substandard care or confidentiality issues if they disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity." "The American Medical Association recently updated their policies on LGBT issues and noted that not obtaining sexual orientation and gender identity from patients was akin to a failure to screen or diagnose. This underscores the professional duty of clinicians to create safe environments for disclosure of and attention to this important aspect of a patient's social history." Etc. -- Путеец ( talk) 20:11, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Proposed removal of this: “Unprotected anal sex is a risk factor for formation of antisperm antibodies (ASA) in the recipient. In some people, ASA may cause autoimmune infertility.” Is this a prominent health risk for MSM? The first linked source doesn’t even talk about anal sex in the summary, and instead just talks about how anti sperm antibodies in general can create infertility. “Coincidentally” the editwar by the original editor lines up with the dates of a post on a rather disturbing Russian anti-gay propaganda site about how Wikipedia kept removing their edit over the issue. (It’s titled “What Is Wikipedia” on pro-lgbt.ru). Anyway, is there a reason to keep this section? Sxologist ( talk) 13:01, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
I think some of the content in the health issues section seems slightly out of scope? WP:SCOPE. This article is about men who have sex with men: "male persons who engage in sexual activity with members of the same sex, regardless of how they identify themselves". The health issues section dives into suicide rates in marriages in Sweden, with a primary source I might add. The source speculates that suicide happens more commonly as a result of a marriage breakdown they are more likely to have a weaker support network outside of their marriage. Yet the inferred statement put on the wiki page makes a presumptive claim that MSM will always be unhappy even in a liberal country. MSM are not necessarily getting into a same sex marriage. Because the article has a focus on men who engage in sexual acts with other men, should the health risks section be kept to more immediate biological concerns regarding an act between two males? It´s stated on this page that the term (MSM) was created in the 1990s, but this is incorrect. The first entry for the Norwegian equivalent is in the newspaper Adresseavisen 10 August 1985 (author Astrid Gynnild, title "Starten på et helvete"). In it the AIDS activist Calle Almedal refers to the term "menn som har sex med menn", which can be directly translated into "men who have sex with men." In an interview with Skeivt Arkiv ( https://skeivtarkiv.no/calle-almedal-1945-2018), Almedal said that it was the Norwegian anthropologist Bjørge Andersen who coined the term when working on a thesis on cruising culture in Oslo city center. Almedal later popularized it on various international AIDS conferences. In Andersen´s thesis, he describes the need for a concept in his work which would include men who had sex with men but did not identify as gay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slagstad ( talk • contribs) 10:51, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
This concept was created by an American dentist. None of it is even real as such acts can happen between men and women, and vary depending on so many factors. They even vary between men based on what exactly it is. The entire concept is stupid and 'American white male' society at its worst. Nothing here is scientific even remotely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.162.221.196 ( talk) 19:23, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Where it states "They may identify as gay, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, or heterosexual" could we please include omnisexual and trisexual in order to try and better represent the spectra of preference as I find their omission not quite problematic but a little troublesome. Thanks! 5.81.14.202 ( talk) 17:49, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
This is not scientific at all and was created by a dentist in the USA. It is a delusion of American culture and should not be presented in any way as science. For example, in regards to HIV, over half the cases are young African women in south eastern African, not 'men who have sex with men'. They are using American samples then trying to apply it to humanity. These samples even represent a sub-group of the people they define, as if viruses just 'appear in men'. To think that women cannot get STD/Is is unscientific utterly. This belongs in the Flat Earth section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.162.211.228 ( talk) 22:38, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
