What was MATA's predecessor, and who operated it? Bus service has existed for MANY years in Memphis. The 9 Normal route, for example, was running in Memphis in 1975, and was considered an historic route at that time. It is believed to have operated since the days of the FIRST Memphis streetcars, but my sources are former riders, and are considered unacceptable as "original research". They're also rapidly dying off. Ragityman ( talk) 19:47, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
The fact box and the leader disagree on the number of active bus routes at 42 and 39. By my count the article lists 32 active and 5 eliminated. What's the real scoop? Ragityman ( talk) 01:15, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
It is my view that WP:NOT applies to this route infromation on this page, specificaly WP:NOTDIRECTORY and WP:NOTGUIDE. The route information is not WP:NOTABLE and has not place on this page. Please point to policies that support the route information on this page being notable, and not in violation of WP:NOT or gain WP:CONSENSUS that it should stay on other grounds ( WP:IAR?). It has a very limited number of sources and only one is from WP:THIRDPARTY. CombatWombat42 ( talk) 19:36, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
Hello! I plan to try do research about the history of MATA to try reorganize this page to be more similar to other transit Wikipedia pages. Any input? I think the "System Background" section could be split into service and history. ElToAn123 ( talk) 01:01, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
I'm not sure why, but the FTA NTD Transit Agency Profile for Memphis doesn't match the NTD Module Raw Data Release for UPT (unlinked passenger trips) numbers. For 2020, the MRDR shows 3.4M riders, which I used for the article. However, the TAP gives a number of 5.1M riders. They partially agree on the VOMS (vehicles operated in maximum service). They both state 4 for the trolley, and 40 for demand response; MRDR shows 79 vehicles while TAP shows 101. Which source should be prioritized for these statistics? ElToAn123 ( talk) 03:41, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
Here is the archived November 2021 system map link for posterity. ElToAn123 ( talk) 14:25, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
My attempts to add to the history section are too specific. Does anyone else have more experience, or tips, regarding writing history sections? I think better sources are also important. ElToAn123 ( talk) 22:39, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
