"A VoIP architecture using an MGC is sometimes called a softswitch architecture." This sentence sounds big, but it doesn't make real sense. A better way to describe this sentence is: 'A softswitch includes the functionality of a MediaGateway and a MediaGatewayController but every developer can be free in his implementation. Only the interfaces to other instances outside have to be standardized for interconnection compatibility.'
