Page creator in Special:Diff/1061448062 on my talk page: "I was asked to create this page". "There were no other images of Mazen, so I created one, as simple as that." ~ ToBeFree ( talk) 20:31, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
I was not paid to create this page--the author of the French wiki page on Mazen was looking for help making an English version. I am decent at French translation--married to a francophone wife--and was able to help. As there were no images of Mazen that I could freely upload, without copyright infringement, I drew a sketch of a published photo and uploaded it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcnelsonart ( talk • contribs) 21:09, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
There was a version on the French wiki for Mazen, and not one on the English wiki---I am familiar with French translation, and I am "known" for drawing portraits of human rights activists, so the author of that wiki asked me to write an English version. I assumed I couldn't just randomly upload another person's photo of Mazen (I am new to wikipedia and unsure about copyright issues)--so I used a photo and drew an interpretation of it to avoid copyright infringements. You still haven't explained why the "Appearances" section was removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcnelsonart ( talk • contribs) 20:45, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

@ Marcnelsonart: can I suggest this discussion about the appearances section be moved to Talk:Mazen al-Hamada? Also, you've asked twice in as many hours for a response regarding that section; remember please we are all volunteers and and there is no deadline. VQuakr ( talk) 20:52, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for all of your help! I am sorry for all the newbie mix-ups. I can see why the addition of my user name to the sketches looked like self promotion. I created the captions when uploading the images to wiki commons, and thought I needed to label where the images came from. In the future, can I add an image (if requested by a contributor, as long as my name does not appear? Thank you again. Marcnelsonart ( talk) 02:30, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
