Where is this info about his Jewish background coming from? I couldn't find any good source online, and I've removed it until I do. Vulturell 03:28, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Since when did sir matt play for liverpool in the 50's and 60's??
What is the significance of his religious upbringong, he was a footballer and manager, and others in Wikepaedia do not have their religion stated unless entirely significant to certain facts. (TJM)
It was Jackie Blanchflower not Danny.
If you knew anything about the man his religion was central to his life and many of his staff at MUFC eg Tom Curry, Bert Whalley. The fact of being given the last rites twice at Munich play any part in his story? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davdevalle ( talk • contribs) 11:57, 5 November 2007 (UTC) \
Along with British prime ministers Wilson and Heath, 19th-century circus impressario Mr. Kite, and possibly a young kindergarten student named Lucy, Matt Busby is one of a few real-life people mentioned in a Beatles' song, the John Lennon-sung "Dig It" that appears on "Let It Be". He's thrown in at the end of a Lennon stream-of-consciousness rant that also mentions the BBC, B.B. King, and Doris Day. Not sure if this should be mentioned in the Busby entry, since it was obviously not a signature moment in his soccer career, but it's the only reason this American knows of him.
"American" - John Lennon and the rest of the Beatles were all from Liverpool, England. All four beatles would have known full well who Matt Busby was when they wrote their songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.110.255.140 ( talk) 13:44, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Sir Matt also managed Scotland for 3 months between Sept 1958 and Dec 1958. He was in charge of 2 games in the British Home Championship where he recorded a draw and a win against Northern Ireland and Wales.
Nov 5 1958 - Northern Ireland (Hampden Park, Glasgow) 2-2 Scorers - Sco (David Herd, Bobby Collins)
Nov 18 1958 - Wales (Ninian Park, Cardiff) 0-3 Scorers - Sco (Graham Leggat, Denis Law, Bobby Collins)
busby grandfather on his mothers side was irish and catholic. source A strange kind of glory-biography by eammon dunphy —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.198.141.22 ( talk) 12:42, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
The math was incorrect in relation to Sir Busby's winning percentage. I fixed it. A draw would equal the sum divided by two (1 = 0.5) adding the sum of wins (equaling 1) and dividing the result to the number of games coached. The formula is: Wins + (Draws/2) = x/Games = PCT. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.40.25 ( talk) 04:56, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
the article wrongly states his place of birth as cheadle(at the top right) but he was acttually born just 2 miles outside motherwell, this should be changed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.13.130.14 ( talk) 21:07, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
"Busby would often accompany his father down into the coal pits", says the second paragraph in the "Early life" section. I think this statement needs to be clarified; was it his father – who was killed when Busby was eight – or was it his stepfather whom he would accompany? If it was his real father, it means that he went down into the coal pits before the age of eight. I know that this was in the 1910s or 1920s, but it still seems questionable to me. At least, it needs clarification. HandsomeFella ( talk) 17:18, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
See the pictures of him before and after 1958. Dig It (Beatles song), in this song John Lennon told us that The Real-Doris Day, The Real-Paul McCartney, The Real-B.B. King and The Real-Matt Busby died! See the pictures of Doris Day, B.B. King and Matt Busby before and after 1958... See the pictures of Paul McCartney before and after 1966. And see Paul is dead article. Böri ( talk) 09:12, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
There is actually no reliable evidence for this whatsoever. This "fact" appears to have been added to the article about three years ago by User:VI3NA5, who has now returned to Wikipedia using both that account and a pseudonym User:IV13NA5. Unfortunately, it seems this info was included in the article long enough for people to notice and now we have pages such as this regurgitating unsubstantiated info. If anyone can find a pre-2013 source for Busby's Lithuanian heritage, that would be amazing, but I wouldn't recommend taking any facts added by VI3NA5 or his alias as gospel. – Pee Jay 20:22, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
