The Attilio Regolo page contains much the same information. Its title is the Italian spelling of Marcus At(t)ilius Regulus so it seems silly to have to English pages dedicated to the same person. Amphipolis 22:24, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
The italicized lines are for revisions on what was then the article Attilio Regolo.
I think that it would be best if someone would check the note on Regulus's demise, which is ascribed to Horace. The Regulus Ode (III.5, which is correct) does not seem to mention anything specific about the form of death that awaits Regulus; the closest that I could find was "atque sciebat, quae sibi barbarus/ tortor pararet...", which would translate to something like "and [well] he knew what things for him his barbarous tormentor prepared". 204.52.215.69 ( talk) 23:15, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
You are correct that Horace does not mention the specific manner of Regulus' death. I intend to edit the page. Mblem1 ( talk) 20:00, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I try to clean up odd links, including bad and red links, that sort of thing, when I have time and inclination. I don't know how (or if) to correct the competing links in this minor article.
This Wikipedia article on Marcus Atilius Regulus indexes him under Marcus.
Citations show that Encyclopædia Britannica 1911 is the source. Encyclopædia Britannica 1911 lists him in the index (volume 23, REFECTORY_to_SAINTE-BEUVE) as "Regulus, Marcus Atilius". The EB 1911 link is RED.
https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/1911_Encyclop%C3%A6dia_Britannica/Vol_23:1
There is also a link directly to the EB 1911 article; the Wikipedia link to the article is https://www.britannica.com/biography/Marcus-Atilius-Regulus
This discrepancy (indexed M vs R) causes an automatic response "article name needed" that I do not know how to fix -- especially because EB 1911 is probably correct to list the article under Regulus rather than under Marcus and Wiki admin probably should decide to where to make these changes.
Thanks in advance GeeBee60 ( talk) 14:40, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
I have noticed that some dates in the article concerning things Regulus has done are in the 1800's BC, this is plain impossible because of obvious reasons, I don't know the actual dates, but I thought I'd just point it out so someone who does can edit it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.195.251.194 ( talk) 13:59, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
@ 50.207.77.194: The infobox is a supplement to the article. See WP:INFOBOX. It should summarise what is said in the article. The article does not say where he died, nor can it. There are no sources as to where he died. The sources say only that he died in captivity. It is therefore not verifiable to assert that MAR died in Carthage, which is why I've reverted your edits to that effect.
The consulship is not an occupation. An occupation is a profession that one has, which one can do for prolonged periods of time. The consulship is a single year office that most people hold only once or twice. One cannot have the occupation of consul in the same way one cannot have the occupation of being born.
