Is it true that manhua is a general term in the English language to refer to Chinese comics, like manga to Japanese comics? — Insta ntnood 19:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
I wonder, was Dragon Tiger Gate was the correct english translation? In Indonesia, the old version was published under the title Tiger Wong and then republished under the title Dragon and Tiger Heroes and the new version was published under the name Long Hu Men. Dragon Tiger Gate is the film based on the comics.
I think it was best to write the original title first, the romanization of the mandarin name, then the English name and also the various English Name.
FYI, Fung Wan in Indonesia was published under the title "Winds and Cloud" Kunderemp 05:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
I look at the links of the publisher. Why the publisher listed on the page is american publishers? Why not the original publishers first (such as Jade Dynasti Ltd., Culture Com Ltd.) then the publishers in English? Kunderemp 05:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Why is Digimon on here? --anon unsigned

Chinese comics — The term "manhua" is not in widespread use and is only used by fans in imitation of the Japanese term, "manga".

Should we add that the literal translation of the word in Chinese would be ten thousand pictures? And that Chinese speaking persons use Manhua to describe any comic? —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Youth Counselor ( talk • contribs) 14:15, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Someone moved the article from "Manhua" to "Manwah". Whereas I don't have a vested interest in which English spelling we choose, I do care that we use it consistently. If you are going to change the name of the article, you should also change every instance of the word throughout the article.
Moreover, given that there has been disagreement over suggested moves in the past (see above), a move is something that really ought to be discussed here first.
Consequently, I have moved it back. -- GentlemanGhost ( talk) 00:40, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
1. Just my POV, I feel Chinese nationalism is the main motivation behind calling this article Manhua rather than (what I see as) the more appropriate title "Chinese graphic novels" or "Chinese comics". It's like as if Germans create an article on English Wikipedia named 'Deutschland' rather than 'Germany' just because it is so-called in German.
I am ok with Japanese comics being called either Manga rather than Japanese comics because the term is already in wide usage in the English speaking world and because they have their own artistic style clearly distinct from the Anglophone comics. But we aren't there yet.
2. Also, is this article meant to describe Hong Kong comics or comics in Greater China? If it's HK comics only, then the content of the article should be modified to reflect that, e.g. rename 'Manhua' as 'Manwah' and replace much of the translations based on Hanyu pinyin with Cantonese equivalents. If it's meant to describe comics in Greater China, then surely sections about the developments of comics in mainland China and Taiwan should be included and the "four categories of comics" section should be expended -- there is a huge "girls' comics" genre after all.

Wikipedia is ridiculous, manhua is cartoon, and at the most graphic novels. It's misleading to fabricate an article merely out of pinyin. This is not the right path to take. Please people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IsoMorpheus ( talk • contribs) 08:13, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
