Can anyone tell me what a "guru-deity" is? -- Dakinijones ( talk) 19:41, 24 October 2008 (UTC) Maybe it is a deity teaching like/as a guru.
I would like to know whether the socalled Dorje zahorma hat has some connection with Mandarava of Zahor? It can be seen here, Chatral Rinpoche.
googlebooks, [1],
I've been working on editing this article by replacing the flowery language with more straight forward language, inserting references, and adding additional content. I'm wondering if anyone has any additional information about the birth location of Mandarava? As noted, one biography states it was in Zahor, in northeast India, while other sources cite what I take to be Sahor in northwest India, like the reference above. Any information or assistance is welcome. AD64 ( talk) 06:08, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
I think it is time to remove the "needs additional citations" template. Any reason for me not to be bold and remove it? AD64 ( talk) 06:35, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
I note the informative banners and boxes that I see on other articles on Buddhism and would like to add this kind of thing to this page. I don't quite understand how to do it though, from a technical point of view. The one here on Padmasambhava's page is an example of what I'm considering. Does anyone else know where to find these, how to insert them, and any relevant protocol? Thanks. AD64 ( talk) 23:16, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
I've been doing more research and came across this blog ( https://protectingnyingma2.wordpress.com/2011/03/04/women-in-vajrayana-buddhism/)which lists the emanations of Mandarava in almost the same order (and same tone?) as the current Wikipedia article. Since the Wikipedia article has no references for this section, except the recent references I added about the recognition of Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo and Niguma, I'm proposing we remove most of the information about the incarnations information for now. If I find any independent sources for this information, I can always rewrite this section, with sources, and add it back to the article. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Best, AD64 ( talk) 23:17, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
I reviewed this article for assessment purposes. While it is very extensive, it is almost unreadable. The jargon is overwhelming. I can't imagine the average user (and I have a PhD) being able to make much out of it. I am opposed to allowing it to proceed any further toward "GA" without a thorough rewrite, which replaces the jargon with everyday equivalent expressions. -- Vicedomino ( talk) 21:36, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
