In my opinion, the listing of McKenna's publication takes up to much of the page and doesn't need to be included as it seems excessive.

Strongly agree.Encyclopedia articles should not resemble CVs, directories, etc. The fact that many academic biographies unfortunately slide into this trend is no justification for the practice to continue. Complete listings of publications are appropriate for obituaries or other tributes, (which is the case in Bell, 2004 "Malcolm C. McKenna: A Biography and Bibliography", and indeed the entire issue dedicated to McKenna), but have no place in an encyclopedia. A better repository for this data dump would be the Wikispecies page:
