I hope somebody start an article about Kolathiris.
Why is it not called Malabar region? Calling it Malabar makes the town of Malabar disappear. Mattisse (talk) 15:44, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
There are other sources online that claim that the word Malabar actually comes from the Arab word "Ma'bar" which means "passage". The explanation given to support the claim seems to be the fact that Arab merchants had a long standing relationship with the rulers in Kerala even before the birth of Islam. So now the question is who is correct about the origin of the word "Malabar"?

Malabar is aryan. Malabar has nothing to do with tamil civilizations or dravida. Even the language malayalam is 80% Sanskrit . — Preceding

– Malabar region currently redirects to Malabar (Northern Kerala) (this article). Malabar refers to many things, even in northern Kerala. This article discusses the Malabar region, and there are other articles that discuss the district and other meanings. This article should be at Malabar region; I propose that the page names be swapped. Joshua Issac ( talk) 16:39, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
This article is almost totally unsourced, and its only two sources don't even mention "Malabar region", let alone establish any notability (in contrast to the other Malabar (disabiguation) articles). The subject appears quite intertwined with, if not identical to Malabar Coast, with which a merger is proposed. Batternut ( talk) 16:13, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
Please add a proper Map of the region. Remember this is a REGION not a town or city. Manabimasu ( talk) 02:57, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
