While browsing through Sami Hafez Anan's biography and related articles, I noticed there was a messy draft for Mahmoud Refaat not up to WP standards. The subject is clearly notable in Egyptian (and EU?) politics with a lot of news - check Rahaf Mohammed, Omar al-Hassi, Ghad El-Thawra Party, Hisham Genena, etc. - but the draft had some grammatical mistakes and PR fluff. Nevertheless there are German Wikipedia, Dutch Wikipedia, and Swedish articles about Refaat, which are all short, factual stubs. So what I did was to rewrite the whole thing from scratch by doing a rough translation of the Dutch and German versions. You can alert me if you see anyone attempting to add off-topic promotional content afterwards. Internationalerz ( talk) 21:15, 9 March 2021 (UTC) reply

Agree with your points above. But could you clarify if you had worked more from the German or the Dutch Wikipedia? You need to give attribution with a "translated page" template or relevant edit summary. Jackhasahat ( talk) 01:20, 15 July 2022 (UTC) reply
Actually I see the template is on the right side, it says nl-wiki. Jackhasahat ( talk) 01:21, 15 July 2022 (UTC) reply
Well this draft looks it had been significantly cleaned up. There was still a bit of residual content from previously problematic editing; I've removed and cleaned up after checking some references and the page history. Jackhasahat ( talk) 01:20, 15 July 2022 (UTC) reply
See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mahmoud Refaat. It was in 2010 but he was not as notable back then. Jackhasahat ( talk) 01:26, 15 July 2022 (UTC) reply
