The stated formula ${\displaystyle 1/n=1/p.n+1/(p.n/(n-1))}$ is wrong; it gives ${\displaystyle 1/p}$ not ${\displaystyle 1/n}$. Perhaps the intended formula is ${\displaystyle 1/p.n+1/(p.n/(p-1))}$ where ${\displaystyle p}$ is chosen so that ${\displaystyle p-1}$ is a factor of ${\displaystyle n}$. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrystomath2 ( talk • contribs) 06:12, 10 July 2017 (UTC) reply

@ Rishabh.rsd:I'm not a historian so I don't know what Mahavira wrote, but I can see, using algebra, that ${\displaystyle 1/p.n+1/(p.n/(n-1))=1/p}$.
