Perhaps, this is the only article of its type. There exists Elvis Presley, or whatever equivalent artist to others. But I think the scope of Madonna is larger and has impacted the literature to the point that it is a more articulated topic in press accounts: this includes whole articles dedicated to explain this "nickname", artist's reponses, impact in their career, quotes and other many things hardly found with other scenarios/examples. And also to the point, that there exists numerous leading female artists since the 1980s, including the pop stage that seems to have impacted more in many ways rather than male artists or bands since then; including actively best-sellers to the point that are passive usage for bands or male artists.
