I have re-written the former section stating that Madog's grave slab was found at Valle Crucis. Whilst he did establish the Abbey, the heraldic slab that was discovered at the Abbey in 1956 relates to Madog ap Gruffydd Vychan who died in 1306, and was this man's great grandson.
