Dunno. It may well have interacted, but it doesn't appear to be the origin: the OED has an 1893 citation for the term from EF Benson, pre-dating the doll and the c.WW1 drawing it was based on. Gordonofcartoon ( talk) 02:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC) reply
