Reason for no HMAS prefix?

Just to answer my curiosity, can someone explain why no HMAS prefix for this ship? Was it not commissioned into the RAN? Or is there some other reason? — Bellhalla ( talk) 14:06, 13 October 2009 (UTC) reply

I don't think that she was ever commissioned - this Navy news article says that she was 'obtained' by the RAN rather than commissioned. Nick-D ( talk) 21:40, 13 October 2009 (UTC) reply
MSA (Minesweeper Auxiliaries) were civilian ships initially acquired by the RAN to cover the gap between the failed Bay class minehunters and the acquisition of the Huon class minehunters (although some are still in service to supplement inshore minesweeping). They were never commissioned, so do not carry the HMAS prefix. -- saberwyn 23:38, 13 October 2009 (UTC) reply

Is Touaraken the same ship?

While updating this article, I came across a few fragments of information indicating that this ship may now be operating out of Port Vila, Fiji as MV Touaraken. Can anyone confirm this, andor confirm the reliability of ahttp://www.shipspotting.com/ships/ship.php?imo=7532662 Shipspotting.com page] as a source? -- saberwyn 04:45, 31 July 2015 (UTC) reply
