Photo coverage graphic

An explanation of the white/gray/black areas for the photographic coverage graphics on this page and for Lunar Orbiters 1-4 would be helpful. From context I believe that black indicates high-res targets, white is general coverage, and gray is no coverage, but without a reference I wouldn't edit the article.
