Hello! I will review this article this week. I hope to have finished before Wednesday. I'm interested in snooker and follow tournaments quite regularly so I am pleased to begin reading and analysing your work.
GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
He is the youngest player to compete in the World Snooker Championship, making his debut in 2012, aged 17 years and 45 days, and the first player from mainland Europe to have won the event.→ I would specify the age in the article body and also move the reference to the 'Early professional years' subsection. The lead should include as few references as possible.
Luca Brecel was born on 8 March 1995 in Dilsen-Stokkem, Belgium.
He was removed from school so that he could be home tutored and spend more time practicing the game.→ It would be interesting to know his age when he left school.
→ Generally, the 'Early professional years' subsection might be a little too long and overly detailed. I suggest you summarize this period of his career a little more. We don't need to know every frame he played or every oponent he faced from 2011 to 2015. Focus on major accomplishments and major tournaments he participated in. It would be better if the 'Early professional years' subsection was more or less the same size as the 'First ranking event win' one.
At 17 years and 45 days of age, Brecel became the youngest ever player to qualify for the World Snooker Championship at the 2012 event, after defeating Ian McCulloch, Barry Pinches, Michael Holt and Mark King.
→ You could develop and enrich your article a little more, and add 'Playing style' (Strengths and weaknesses, approach, personality, handedness etc.) and/or 'Personal life' (Favourite players, football club, film etc.) sections, using references you have used before (such as the 2009 Eurosport article entitled Right on cue: Luca Brecel). A 'Playing style' section would be especially pertinent for a player of this importance.
@ Lee Vilenski After this first review, I don't see any major problems appearing in this article. On the whole, it would pass the GA nomination after some revisions. The entire text is well written and covers most of the important aspects of Brecel's life. References are pertinent and consistently formatted. However, I think there are still small corrections and adjustments to be made. Some subsections need to be more concise and summarized. The article seems a little too dense and sometimes too detailed. I let you read the few comments made above and look forward to your feedback and modifications. Thanks!
AideDésintéressée, Lee Vilenski, where does this review stand? As far as I can see, there have only been a few edits by Lee on March 3 since the review, and nothing since. Thanks. BlueMoonset ( talk) 21:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
@ Lee Vilenski I've just promoted this article to GA class! Congrats for your work and thanks for your recent edits! AideDésintéressée ( talk) 16:01, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
