"Discover the Power in You" is not the English version of the motto, merely an advertising slogan. The Latin phrase means "Aim for a sure end" and used to be included beneath the Farmville Female Seminary name on diplomas. (There is an example hanging in the Longwood Inn.) Are there any objections to its removal due to the fact that it is not the English translation of the motto, as the label suggests?
Question for all who edit this page: the notable alumni section provides a lot more information than most colleges have. Shouldn't we trim it down some to whom the person is, their year of graduation, and their profession? Usually the person's own accomplishments stand for themselves...it looks cluttered to enumerate them all.
Sorry, Messenger. We're all interested in accuracy, but too many pictures? Not anyone's sole call.
So l;ry me get this straight, if Messenger hasn't heard of an alumni, it doesn't go in the article? How about checking an alumni directory Messenger? Class of 1993 --Thecolony
For Messenger: Look, this page was a single four sentence paragraph when I started revamping it; I am a student and the changes I make are to broaden and expand the entry, not to deface it.
Hey, I'm a student myself. I live in Frazer, and I'm a junior majoring in physics. I laud all of the very hard work you've done with the pictures and whatnot. I too am attempting to expand the entry, and did not realize that I was in fact defacing it, so please go into more details as to how that came to be. -- MessengerAtLWU 18:34, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
I thought you were an administration official who was trying to reverse my changes; I didn't realize you were another student, and I was not trying to accuse you of defacing the page, just making it clear that I wasn't either. I'd much rather the page be worked on by students and not those in the administration and I'm glad other students are taking an interest :) Sorry if I seemed pissed.
It's okay, I understand. I've got a few articles I'm "protective" of myself. I'm right now adding stuff in the campus and possibly history sections. :-P
Hey y'all, would you rather we use the logo that we have on there now, or the newer Rotunda logo (see below), or perhaps something else from the University site?
P.S.: I plan on uploading the new athletics logo as soon as I can find it online, probably at the LU athletics site. -- MessengerAtLWU 22:44, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Why is there no athletics section? Rlevse 20:14, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
All right, someone has retagged this term to redirect to the page on prostitution. This is not just to Longwood. Anyone>
Messenger - A significant portion of the LU student body are unhappy with the school. Since you have reverted my edits instead of correcting them, how do you suggest that we cover their criticisms in a NPOV way? -- 71.126.136.145 16:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi I dont know if you consider YouTube Personalities Celebrities. The Youtuber TACO STACKS Went to school at this collecge. He mentioned in his 2/28/2021 Video He went to college In Farmville, Virginia. Unless there is another College in that town that would make him an Alumni.
This is his Youtube page
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCca-PciLu55c5a1PqlffBqA
If this was a bigger town I would not mention a YouTuber. However since this place is small I will give the Wiki Editors the decision to include or not.
I Did not want to edit directly since I do not know if he qualifies & did not want people thinking I am vandalizing or spamming Wiki.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply! Thats why I did not edit it & came to the talk page instead. I figured I would let the Wiki pros Decide. — Preceding

Inflated enrollment numbers. Not accurate to reflect the student consumer information. I encourage university to correct the numbers. Factsfactsfunwithfacts ( talk) 22:55, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
