"Third deadliest of the 20th century"?

This needs to be qualified. Even the most cursory glance at List of American railroad accidents would show that this is far from the third deadliest U.S. rail accident of the 20th century.

I suspect the editor or source meant to say that it is New York's third deadliest of the 20th century, which it does seem to be, after the Malbone Street wreck and the Angola Horror. Daniel Case ( talk) 07:01, 31 May 2016 (UTC) reply
