It's a vent of Surtsey, isn't it? Guanlongwucaii ( talk) 11:06, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Guanlongwucaii
It does not make sense to include Jolnir. It is a part of Surtsey volcano.
The date of last known eruption of Kolbeinsey ridge appears to be wrong. It at least does not agree with the information on the Global Volcanism website.
Kolbeinsey Ridge information. Jonfr ( talk) 02:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Just created this stub Thordarhyrna it's a volcano in iceland - so it should probably be in the list :) EdwardLane ( talk) 04:57, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Also missing are
Hamarinn,
Snaehetta (apparently part of
Esjufjöll), and
Veidivötn(found the icelandic spelling
Veiðivötn)
some info for all of those can be found in this

User:irpsit Veidivotn is a fissure belonging to Bardarbunga, as well as Hamarinn. They can be listed as same volcano. Same applies for Edlgjá and Laki; these are not volcanoes but fissure belonging to Katla and Grimsvotn, respectively. Hverfjall is just a crater belonging to Krafla. There is no sense listing all kinds of mountains part of the same volcano, because then to be fair we would have to list thousands of these mountains. For example, there are a few interesting shield volcanoes in Iceland, such as Skjalbreidur or Ok. I should say that what is considered a main volcano or not, is a little bit subjective, but I think it is good to stick to scientific consensus on this. Vatnsfjoll is a system independent from Hekla. Krakatindur is not a volcano but a part of Vatnsfjoll. Geysir, Thórólfsfell and Grensdalur volcanoes are considered extinct, they should not be listed (because there are just too many extinct volcanoes in Iceland). Brennisteinfjoll and Bláfjoll are sometimes considered independent volcanoes, sometimes as the same system. Sometimes Hrafnabjorg is considered as another independent volcanic system, but not in general.
I just found a mention of another mountain under Vatnajokull called Pálsfjall - its not far from Thordarhyrna this page [2] has it sharing the same eruption as Thordarhyrna - but this page [3] has them as different places with photos of palsfjall and thordarhyrna seperately - it is clearly a mountain on iceland - so it's a volcano :) EdwardLane ( talk) 09:33, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Just found this [4] which suggests link a page which could be used to flesh out the Global Volcanism Program list [5] which could probably be useful. EdwardLane ( talk) 14:30, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
BTW: This is no volcano, but - as the name indicates - a tectonic fracture zone. Took it out of the list.
The volcano situated next to it is Theistareykjabunga. Reykholt ( talk) 15:57, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
The list shows that the 1961 eruption was VEI 5. But that is the figure for the 1875 eruption. I believe that the 1961 eruption was VEI 2. Or have I misunderstood? Theeurocrat ( talk) 12:57, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Is there a reason why the Maelifel volcano is not included in the list of volcanoes? It appears to be a rather high-profile one, based on online reports.-- Ratha K ( talk) 16:02, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
I am hoping to get answer why the volcanoes are not also cataloged by type. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.131.223.99 ( talk) 17:05, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
