This list has issues. There are quite a few unincorporated communities on when it seems it should be a list of official towns. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to which unincorporated communities are on the list; there are post office hamlets, CDPs, and even no longer extant towns. There are also plenty of examples of all these places that are not on the list. I'm not much of a wikipedian, but I thought I'd draw attention to this.

Well, since no one has responded to my concerns, I've taken the liberty of cleaning up the list since it seems pretty clear what needs to go. RCH ( talk) 23:52, 6 March 2009 (UTC) reply

To whoever edited in "Lancaster" and anyone who in the future may be tempted to make such edits: I understand what you are trying to do; you look on the list of towns and are shocked to see that your town is not on the list. But before you edit your town in, make sure your "town" is not actually a "city." South Carolina law makes a distinction between "towns" and "cities," and most likely (I think this list is complete, but I'm not 100% sure) the reason your "town" is not on this list is that it is in fact a "city," in which case it is hopefully listed on the "list of cities in South Carolina." Another possibility is that the place you wish to edit in is not an incorporated place at all, in which case it does not belong on either list. Please don't add places to the list that are not technically towns. RCH ( talk) 20:27, 6 April 2009 (UTC) reply

Vandal?

Every now and then, someone without a handle, just an IP address, puts cities in this town list. The addresses are always different. But I wonder if the addies could be the work of one vandal. Inkan1969 ( talk) 22:44, 23 May 2010 (UTC) reply
