Not alot goes on in a year. That's why I'm proposing the reorganisation of all the list of sovereign states in xxxx pages ( master list here) into decades instead of single years (e.g. List of sovereign states in the 1990s). Organising these lists by single years is just not practical. The lists are:

  1. rarely frequented,
  2. incredibly unmanageable,
  3. never maintained,
  4. unsourced,
  5. easily susceptible to POVs
  6. and very problematic to improve.

All of these things just lead to wrong information being put forth, and it's a stupid way to present this kind of data. All lists were proposed for deletion in 2006. The decade movement has already been proposed before, but apparently the editor lost momentum. Reorganising the lists into decades means that they become more manageable and therefore less susceptible to vandalism and unverified edits. I chose the 2000s as a starting point, but if I can get community approval, I'll do it for the rest of the decades aswell. Night w ( talk) 16:22, 10 March 2010 (UTC) reply

I would be fine with organizing the list by decade but I'm worried that at a certain point it would become too cumbersome for the reader to understand, especially in more complicated decades like the 1940s. Could you maybe do a sandbox version of the 2000s or 1990s so we could see what the pages would look like? Orange Tuesday ( talk) 17:45, 10 March 2010 (UTC) reply
If there's a period (like during the World Wars) that requires greater division, then we can stick to years in those cases, but I'm certainly game to try and see how if it works. I think 2000-2009 certainly does. The draft is here. No major differences in the first category. The second is good too, but I still have to add the commentaries that were on the 07-09 pages. The last category is a little more pedantic with the terminology changes, but I'm going to clean that up. Most of the information was cut and paste, so I can't guarantee the facts displayed—but I'm hoping the broader time coverage will be able to get greater traffic flow from editors.
