Missing one from Jacksonville FL

Acccording to multiple sources, [1] [2] Jacksonville had six fatal shootings in 2014, but I am only counting five on the current lists. Can anybody check my count or find and add the 6th? -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 14:08, 13 May 2015 (UTC) reply

The Current List is No List at All

Compare the current section to how it was written previously: https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States,_2010&oldid=536316863 Why have people's names and details been removed? All details of the dead and how they died has been gutted. It is dehumanized; as a resource, it is useless in its current form. To call this current "List of killings..." a "list" is a misnomer. The monthly lists still (should) have that information. If you find parts missing (e.g. if somebody only had time to put a name and pointer to a news article) please help by adding those summaries. Thanks! -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 14:10, 13 May 2015 (UTC) reply

I think that the list is not visible on the 'mobile version' when viewing on an ipad...

Do you see the navigation box that has a horizontal list to the various months on one line, and a list of other years on a second?

It should look like this:

And that has the links to the monthly lists.-- ProtectorServant ( talk) 23:20, 18 May 2015 (UTC) reply

What do you think it should look like? (Feel free to play around with a draft replacement.) -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 02:26, 30 May 2015 (UTC) reply

Why have twelve monthly lists instead of a single yearly?

This article is uselessly empty, and looking at the history it's because every time someone adds an item, it gets removed to one of several monthly lists. Why would twelve individual articles be better than a single article covering the whole year with dates posted chronologically? And even then, what's the problem with both lists containing the same information?

There needs to be a way to show an entire year on one page. Bizzybody ( talk) 03:57, 26 December 2014 (UTC) reply

I think there probably is a way to show an entire year on one page through transclusion of page subsections, but page size becomes a concern both for updating and reading. There was some discussion of the split here in 2012 and here in 2013.

Also, at this point, the structure of templates and counters is based on the monthly structure. However, would having a template you could use to get a single-page view in a userspace page be helpful? -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 14:17, 13 May 2015 (UTC) reply

^ Yes, I think so, and I think the repeated statements of confusion by other readers corroborate my opinion. . . . Iconofiler ( talk) 22:15, 23 May 2015 (UTC) reply

Try dropping one of the following onto your sandbox or a subpage of your User pages:

{{List of killings by law enforcement officers in the United States, Yearly Aggregate|2014}} (all monthly tables for a given year, template page here)

OR

{{List of killings by law enforcement officers in the United States, Full Year|2014}} (includes better framing, template page here)

You're welcome! -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 04:24, 30 May 2015 (UTC) reply

Why is this article here?

There are no names in the list. If no one was killed by law enforcement officers in 2014, why have an article at all??

It is basically serving as an index to the monthly lists. The navboxes on pages for months in other years don't allow direct access to the 2014 months, but does link to this 2014 main page, from which somebody can see overall statistics and link to any specific month. -- ProtectorServant ( talk) 14:19, 13 May 2015 (UTC) reply
