I added a link to MindJet by Mindmanager. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dmccreary ( talk • contribs) 14:16, August 16, 2006 (UTC)
I think that we should separate free and commercial software, as it will help viewers distinguish between the different concept mapping software. Computerwiz908 21:44, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
ConceptDraw MINDMAP is another MindMap NOT a concept-map tool. Since this isn't even a free product it "appears" to be intentionally misleading for commercial gain. The MindMapping page points to this page as a distinctly different diagram type. Likewise, this set of pages should be exclusively for CONCEPT MAPS and send references to Mind Maps back there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.81.226.30 ( talk • contribs) 18:30, August 4, 2007 (UTC)
Freemind is not concept mapping tool, it is mindmapping tool. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.196.149.226 ( talk • contribs) 20:57, May 24, 2007 (UTC)
Mind mapping: a single central concept gives way to multiple branches. Concept mapping: different concepts linked together.
I think this is an important point - but I am not sure that freemind should be removed, as mind mapping seems to be a tree-restricted subset of concept mapping. StephenDeGabrielle 22:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry but I added Freemind before I saw the note about adding. However I see now that the page under the Free Software catagory contains the Note: some tools above only offer the Mindmap subset of concept mapping facilities described in the main concept map entry. Therefore, in view of this note, it seems silly to leave out one of the most popular mind mapping packages that has 'Free' in it's title under the category of free software. Hope everyone agrees. Freemind is a mindmapping tool - not a conceptmapping tool. Mindmapping is not a "tree restricted" subset of concept mapping, it is a completely different approach with a different background, a different history and different tools. You cannot add a motorbike to a list of cars because its "two wheel restricted kind of car". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.229.16.19 ( talk) 23:28, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Can we add this to the list of tools?
StephenDeGabrielle 22:30, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Can we add Compendium http://www.compendiuminstitute.org/about.htm
the associated papers are also interesting: http://www.compendiuminstitute.org/library/papers.htm StephenDeGabrielle 22:30, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Have added Compendium; is notable due to collaboration, argumentation, and conversation mapping facilities. Actively developed and used in a variety of sectors.
(It was previously added incorrectly - and then removed because it had no wikipedia entry of it's own.)

I feel the link between Argument mapping and concept mapping is relevant and should probably be added in its own right. – StephenDeGabrielle 22:58, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
How about including conzilla? www.conzilla.org -- Memphiso ( talk) 12:21, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
If nobody has any objections I will add a link to VUE. VUE is open source concept mapping software from Tufts University. Ryan.1 —Preceding comment was added at 04:07, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Because of the overlap between concept and mind mapping software, both types should be included under different headings. Then each section should be subdivided into FOSS and Commercial solutions. Ryan ( talk) 04:31, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to suggest adding Buzan's iMindMap to the software list. Does anyone have any objections to this. It's a desktop application that provides organic Mind Mapping methods to create Maps for brainstorming, organising, creative thinking, project management and planning. I am trying to figure out the rationale for removing both the Diagramming_software and Online_diagramming pages and merging them here? The software listed here should be Mindmapping and concept mapping tools, and rightly so. But with the removal of the above mentioned pages, where does one include more general purpose diagramming tools like Creately, Gliffy and Visio? Thanks 118.137.230.75 ( talk) 05:53, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
