Essentially what I am proposing is that we undo the merge that formed this article from the original " List of active rebel groups" and " List of rebel groups that control territory" articles that was performed during this merge; [1] [2] after the following 2013 merge discussion. At the time, both sub-sections of this article ( List of active rebel groups#Groups that control territory and List of active rebel groups#Rebel groups by state) were in these two separate articles, and during the merge discussion it was decided to merge the content of both together. This was done in the hopes that the better formatted, and more legible, "List of rebel groups that control territory" article would influence the other general list to be better sourced and better formatted than it originally was. This has failed to materialise for the most part. In the meantime, the "Groups that control territory" sub-section has been improved, reformatted, and (most importantly) had proper citations and sourced information added to it to make it complete and referenced list. The "Rebel groups by state" sub-section meanwhile has remained an unsourced mess of WP:OR content that brings down the quality of the article as a whole (note the article's multiple issues tag in place since 2018), with most contributors to the article disinterested in the "Rebel groups by state" sub-section. I would propose at this point that we pursue one of three options:
My preference is for:
Option 1 - As we do not lose any content this way, but please feel free to add additional suggestions if you can think of an additional way to restructure the article's content or means of improving it overall. -
