Why is this chart all in one where the 50's, 60's, 80's, 90, 00's and 10's have each year as it's own table. I tried to make the change but it got reverted. Shouldn't this page be keeping to the same format as the other lists? And surely it would make it easier to use on say the iPhone as the un-needed tables whould be hidden. 78.105.228.3 ( talk) 23:28, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
The 1973 chart shows singles reaching the number one spot mostly on a Tuesday, but there are some Mondays and Sundays in there. Anyone know what the reason for that might be?
The sequence is: Tue, Mon, Mon, Tue, Sun, Sun, then all Tuesday.
Why is this referenced from Guinness rather than the official UK charts? ( http://www.theofficialcharts.com) All the dates are a few days out, which might help to explain the previous question

The Certified UK Singles Awards did not become 200,000, (Silver), 400,000, (Gold), & 600,000, (Platinum), until 1989. From 1973 to 1988 they were higher - 250,000, (Silver), 500,000, (Gold), & 1,000,000, (Platinum). The Article makes it sound like they were always the lower ones..... 82.22.122.117 ( talk) 22:27, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

I've reverted the multi image of the Buggles by EditorE, not through any aversion to the image but because it messes up the formatting of the page. In Chrome and IE it pushed the list way down the page to below the images and in Firefox the picture obliterated some of the text in the list. This is in a maxed window on a 1280x1024 screen (and Windows Vista if it makes any difference.) Bagunceiro ( talk) 13:55, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi
The list of singles from the 70s which sold a million, which includes those which have passed a million through downloads in recent years, needs updating - among those to be added are I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor and Sailing by Rod Stewart. Full list was last published by the Official Charts Co. in December, link here:

I'm not convinced Dawn had the best-selling single of 1973. The source for this information (Chart Archive at http://www.everyhit.co.uk/chart3.html) doesn't even say whether the information is based on sales. I Love You Love Me Love was certified Platinum on 1 January 1974, so we can conclude it passed a million in the last week of 1973. The Dawn single was not certified Platinum. In the OCC's best-selling singles since 1952 list compiled in 2002, they gave Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree's total sales of 988,000 and Gary Glitter's 1,140,000. Both singles had non-charting re-issues which the OCC would (presumably) have included in the total figure. Maybe the BPI awards were for shipments, and Glitter's single hadn't actually passed a million units sold when it got the Platinum award, but a million copies had been shipped to stores. In the 1973 list on EveryHit, it's only at #6 for the year, below several singles which certainly didn't sell a million. It would be interesting to see a primary source for the best-selling single of each year, from a contemporary publication. It might have been Dawn in 1973, if the Glitter track got a certification for shipments, rather than sales. Or the EveryHit chart might be taken from a listing which stopped before 31 December 1973 - if it was published in the weeks prior to that, it wouldn't have included all the singles sales from 1973.
