Jackie Gleason and "Har de Har Har"
Jackie Gleason used the expression "Har de HAR HAR!" not infrequently in his TV show, to express sarcastic sentiment about something the other characters thought was funny, particularly something that had been directed at or related to his TV show character. I think this use antedates the cartoon and deserves mention as the probable origin of the eponymous character's name.
