Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The
WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.
E-mail, somewhat redacted by me, from a long-time and current resident of Jenkins:
"Thought I might give the little bit of information on Jenkins Days to you. The event really never moved. There was actually a split between the festival committee and the new mayor. The “Jenkins Festival Committee Inc.” decided to hold a festival in competition with the official Jenkins day. With the announcement of the “other festival”, the town denied permits which would have put the two festivals in direct competition with each other. So, Jenkins Festival Committee Inc. searched the county for a new location and ended up having a festival a week before the other in Whitesburg. The original Jenkins Days is now call Jenkins Homecoming days and is celebrated in town during the same original dates. It was a lot of small town politics that brought the whole thing to a head."
