In using the random article feature (my preferred method of perusing Wikipedia), I discovered the above article and figured there had to be something similar in existence, like this article. I didn't do the "merge to" or "merge from" thing, mainly because I don't know whkich terminology is technically more correct. However, this article is a little more polished, while volcanic dome is still an orphan (didn't see much point in fixing that). StopTheFiling 19:02, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
Volcanic dome redirects as espected to Lava dome because they are essentially the same thing. A cryptodome is slighly different because it is hidden lava dome but as the article is just a stub and the lava dome article is not too big i propose to merge cryptodome into lavadome. The article says a Lava dome is a "roughly circular mound-shaped protrusion resulting from the slow extrusion of viscous lava from a volcano". But can't a Lava dome form when lava is under pressure and forces the rock above it into a dome (like if someone is lying under a blanket and gets up)? -- The High Fin Sperm Whale ( talk) 00:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
In the list of lava domes section, it states that a lava dome on Mount Hood last erupted in 1907. This is odd, as the GVP states that it last erupted in 1866 and none of its historical eruptions have produced lava domes. Can the person who made this edit explain? -- Guan long wucaii 08:22, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
