Laurel Springs School is an accredited private online school, offering challenging programs for grades K–12. With college prep academics, including Advanced Placement (AP), Honors, and Gifted and Talented programs, 94% of Laurel Springs graduates are accepted into the colleges of their choice.
Founded in 1991 by Marilyn Mosley Gordanier and a dedicated group of educators, Laurel Springs School continues its mission to honor each child’s unique style of learning, support students to achieve their academic goals, and foster their personal interests and talents. Laurel Springs is proud of its active chapters of the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society, and its students are committed to scholastic excellence, leadership and service to their communities.
The school is designed for the college prep student who wishes to grow and excel academically and personally, while maintaining a flexible and self-paced schedule. Laurel Springs’ personalized approach is mastery-based and asynchronous, meaning that students have the opportunity to move faster or slower through the material, depending on their individual skills and knowledge. This approach allows students the ability to adapt their schedules to accommodate their other interests. With students in more than 73 countries, Laurel Springs is truly a community of global learners. The school enrolls students at any time throughout the calendar year, on a full-time or part-time basis.
The Laurel Springs difference is in the relationships students have with teachers, counselors, admissions coordinators, and peers. Students receive individually graded assignments, attention to their unique learning styles, expert college counseling services, and access to real-time school events and clubs. Every year, students gather for a National Honor Society induction ceremony, commencement, and high school prom. Laurel Springs combines all the benefits of a traditional private school with the flexibility of self-paced distance learning. Laurel Springs is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and frequently partners with school administrators who seek a flexible and convenient way to meet the needs of their students through concurrent enrollment options.
Laurel Springs stresses that is not homeschool. Students get to interact with their teachers on a daily basis, and all work is graded and returned back to them with a 72-hour window and sometimes with feedback. The work is flexible for those who have a tight schedule and personalization can be done to fit the learning style of the individual student. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.13.108.49 ( talk) 23:05, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
