Strong Keep: This is much more than a misleading statement by President Trump based on Fox News. It is part of a social phenomenon Sweden-bashing that itself is a catalyst for discussion on exclusion/inclusion, walls/bridges, media reliability, the role of the press. It is an integral part of one of the most topical potent, and emerging conversation of our times. It ties into many aspects of the fake news phenomenon. The story is still emerging and the article can always be deleted later with content merged into other article sections if it is later found to be undeserving. I began a sandbox page to follow this story and its related categories, subcategories, articles and sections. I was unable to find the article that fits the content. This is a fascinating time to explore the role of Wikipedia as related to fake news. It would be great to have a place to consult on the most useful, NPOV way to do this so as to reach across polarized lines. I will work on adding some of the content I have found and would appreciate constructive feedback. Oceanflynn ( talk) 15:30, 22 February 2017 (UTC) reply

Weak Keep: this should be noted somewhere. Still, the current page needs work, and it could be folded into Donald Trump, Sweden-Bashing or Bowling Green Massacre.-- MugaSofer ( talk) 02:58, 23 February 2017 (UTC) reply

I think it should be merged into Donald Trump presidential campaign, 2020 (which I expect to survive AFD), as it was at President Trump's first 2020 campaign rally. It was a silly gaff that doesn't merit a separate article. Jack N. Stock ( talk) 06:10, 28 February 2017 (UTC) reply

Keep. This is an unusual story in many ways, and significant - it's become much more than just another trending internet "talker". Trump emoted with a degree of verbal blurriness and/or lack of facts that's unusual in most presidents except this one, the story spread very rapidly and it's become both a social media affair and a kind of diplomatic affair. And because it happened almsot at the same time as Trump and his team stuck to their guns in branding the media "liars", it's more than likely to remain a common point of reference in the future. 46.195.41.233 ( talk) 14:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC) reply

Mention of riots in Rinkeby misleading

The 2017 Rinkeby riots have no apparent connection to Trumps claims apart from close proximity in time. They were (as the linked article states) incited by a drug-related arrest. We should make this clear so no one misunderstands it as being caused by Trumps statements. Some sources, such as this mixed up article by the NY Post, make a clickbaity title out of it implying some kind of connection, then fall flat on delivering. I propose either removing the mention entirely, or mentioning it in a way that ensures no one might misunderstand it as an "Aftermath" of the Trump rally. I'm going to remove it for now. Please reply here with a clear rationale before adding it back.

I wholly agreed with your removal. It's misleading in the extreme and unconnected either to Trump's remark, or to terrorism. Neutrality talk 19:18, 22 February 2017 (UTC) reply
I think this is a very POV issue. Either Trump was spouting nonsense, or he was proved right and the liberals have egg on their faces. But this is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a debating forum. Another reason for this article to be deleted.-- Jack Upland ( talk) 06:49, 28 February 2017 (UTC) reply
If you claim that Trump can see into the future I hope you have some really solid evidence to back it up with. // Liftarn ( talk) 11:38, 2 March 2017 (UTC) reply
