Something rather important that's missing from the lede is a sentence along the lines of, "laser-heated pedestal growth is a technique where crystals are grown by X". After reading this article, I still have only a rough idea of how LHPG works, despite already being familiar with the Czochralski process and other crystal-growing techniques.
