Traditional Star Name

None of the standard references at star name desinformation show Sadalpheretz as a traditional star name. However, it appears that the name was in fact used by Ottoman seafarers. Prof. Mustafa Pultar has created an online reference of many Arabic and Ottomon star names entitled YILDIZ ADLARI SÖZLÜĞÜ, Turkish for a "Dictionary of Star Names". This might prove to be a valuable resource for this and other stars whose etymological origin is somewhat puzzling.-- Sadalsuud ( talk) 14:19, 28 August 2012 (UTC) reply
