Oppose - as
Talk:Lu Lin (footballer), it is not en.wp practice to distinguish on variations in romanization systems. Neither Lu Lin, or the other with an umlaut are real names like we might (but also usually don't) distinguish a German vs an American name because of lack of an umlaut in the American, but representations of Chinese characters in a romanization system. The system distinguishes a closed "u" with an umlaut yes, but it isn't an umlaut that is part of the real name as German, only a representation. This is en.wp practice (as the status quo on these articles indicates) and I believe should be written into
WP:PINYIN.

Support Lü Bin because a diacritic is sufficient enough if there is no other. Oppose Lu Bin - I didn't know what a "sprinter" is until I found
sprint (running). However, "(sprinter)" should help readers a lot more. --

Support Lü Bin because it is unique; Oppose Lu Bin because it is not. The umlaut in "Lü Bin" is frequently dropped in English sources, making it indistinguishable from Lu Bin. -
