I've separated out the following text into a sub-section, since it's not clear how (or even if) the information about the Old Pooncarie Mission is relevant to the Kureinji people. However, I hesitated to put that enormous "relevance" warning box on a mere stub article!:

Mission

^relevant? Across the river from the Kureinji, Mildura which is in Ladji Ladji tribal land, was first settled in 1847. ^{citation needed} Tindale states that the Ladji Ladji lands ran from 'Chaika Creek to Mildura on southern bank of Murray River.'

In 1855, the Church of England Society ^which? funded the Old Pooncarie Mission eight kilometres west of Pooncarie Township on the Darling River.
