is "recovered" a right word there?

>At least one of these was recovered by US Marines in 2008 from the campus of the University of Anbar.

looks as an act of stealing a historically significant monument to me 93.88.216.35 ( talk) 00:06, 1 August 2017 (UTC) reply

Quite sure it is 170mm K18 based

The barrel of the Soviet 180mm howitzer is much shorter and the muzzle brake is radically different. Other source states that the join in the centre of the barrel is where the modified 170mm barrel is inserted into the 180mm barrel. It should fire normal 17cm shells too.
