Restored deleted copyright and licensing to Wikipedia discussion. Rbrightwell ( talk) 05:14, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
Well, looks like someone came through here and replaced every occurrence of my name (Richard Brightwell) with "Scott Perry". Strange. Why would someone edit the conversation I had with John Owens years ago? Take a look at the history.
For the record... I wrote the original (pre-edits) Wikipedia article on King C. Gillette. I am and have always been the copyright holder.

The "razor and blades" business model commonly refers to the principle of selling the "razor" for little or no profit -- or even giving it away -- and making the profit on the "blades". However, this article says that the original Gillette razor sold for $5. Even allowing for inefficient manufacturing, it's hard to believe that Gillette was "giving it away" -- that is, that he wasn't making a substantial profit on the razor. If so, then this isn't really "razor and blades" marketing! This needs rethinking.
Also, the writing is a bit sloppy -- too many "very"s, unnecessary information (eg, Gillette was -- surprise! -- working to support his family), etc. I've cleaned this up a bit. WilliamSommerwerck ( talk) 12:21, 28 May 2010 (UTC)lyque ahmed

In his Penguin Dictionary of Surnames Basil Cottle explains Gillette as L(ocal Name) 'gill head'(i.e. top of the ravine) Old Norse+Old English .....Finally adding that "The final -tte is fanciful". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:B07:6463:99D:54D1:C25F:638E:F975 ( talk) 22:20, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/razor_blade#English
As you can see here, some slavic languages use words based on Gillette's name to call the razor blade. Among others, my native polish uses "żyletka", where "żylet" is the core, which is pretty much how one can pronounce Gillette (if they think he's French :D) "-ka" is diminutive. But some other languages like Croatian are even closer. And at least in polish, I've seen sources (e.g. Wiktionary says so) that confirm this and I haven't seen it disputed.
Is it a fact worth noting in this article about King C. or should it be in an article about Gillette company or none of these? — Preceding unsigned comment added by J.malczewsky ( talk • contribs) 06:14, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Is there any explanation for his unusual names "King Camp"? JezGrove ( talk) 11:34, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
It is probably one of his most notable works, and I don't know why it isn't mentioned alongside his other publications. Louister41 ( talk) 03:27, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
