There's a confusing section using The History of South Carolina Under the Proprietary Government, 1670-1719 as a source to say the Kiawah spoke an Arawakan language. This is not substantiated by published literature. Yuchitown ( talk) 03:40, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Yuchitown reply

Cassique is a word of Arawak origin, spoken by the Kiawah, to refer to the chieftain or tribal leader. The Cassique negotiated relations with English settlers to improve trade relations, foster peace and tranquility, and cultivate an alliance with the English for the sake of protection. ^[1]
