This part doesn't make sense to me:
"The impact snapped seats from their anchor bolts. Seats and passengers were thrown about the vehicles with a terrific amount of force, which also trapped people and their luggage against the back of the bus."
It is noted that the collision was head-on. If the two busses crash into each other, then why would people fly to the back of the bus? Did they fly all the way through their bus, into the other bus, and to it's back? That doesn't sound right to me.

I think they meant to the front of the bus they were traveling in. If your looking for photos of the crash google hydro photographics, theres a heap of it them there. —Preceding

I was re reading the transcript of an interview held 10 years after the crash with one of the first police officers to arrive at the scene. He mentions one of the first things to shock him was not being able to see anyone in the back of the buses. He also said it was hard to fathom how it was possible everyone was forced towards the front, cramped and trapped in the buses. [2]
i can tell use all now that all in the docum about this is all wrong........ive been looking into my dads death 4 a couple of yrs now and he was the driver of the bus that they said he fell asleep at the wheel they assumed that all becouse his head lights were on high beam i am also lookin into the reason y i have been givin 3 death certifi all with difo reasons i was only young when he died and didnt find out till i seen my name in an old newspaper so i to would like to no what went wrong i also have my familys personal document of stuff they didnt bother to list that changes this point of veiw compleatly ............TARSHA WIRTH R.I.P R.K.G.WIRTH 09/05/2010 —Preceding

Yes, I agree with you. There's a string of coach accidents that don't make sense. The latest Italy bus accident lead me to believe that a mystery force causes the vehicles to veer to the left and also causes temporary confusion for the drivers. I think it's worth discussing the Coroner in more detail. Kevin Waller was the Coroner for the crash. He continued to comment about the state of the Pacific Highway and the need for funding of a dual carriageway while in retirement. [1] [2] [3] [4]
