per WP:BLP, WP:EVENTCRIT, WP:UNDUE, WP:NOTNEWS and WP:Recentism, I want to recommend the blanking of the section on the certificate forgery scandal or the limiting to only two sentences, the first narrating that Premium Times finding, the second stating that NYSC are yet to establish the legitimacy of the case. And it should not be in its own section, at least not now.
There is a difference between an encyclopedic content and just any sourced information. Before explaining the facts we have on this case, I will give an illustration that is similar to what we are having here. Its just like if CNN releases an investigative report that says that some years ago, Donald Trump used a fake social security number to obtain some grant. If there is no authoritative proof for such, then that info has no business on WP. The agency responsible for issuing social security numbers will need to legitimize that claim before we can get any substance since we know CNN is believed to be anti-Trump.
This is election period, there will be many false news flying around, Wikipedia was not created as a tool to propagate such. There is a reason sourced football rumours aren't allowed here until a deal is actually done. Her role in taking Nigeria out of recession is not documented here, but the moment an unverified negative news comes, it is updated minutes later. Sighs!
The facts: Premium Times publish a report that claims Nigeria's finance minister faked her NYSC exemption certificate. NYSC officials are currently investigating the legitimacy of the case 2. Currently, it is confirmed that she submitted a legal request for an exemption letter. Nigeria Police Force have chosen not to involve themselves in the case, until a formal complaint is reported. FG have decided that the appropriate agency, NYSC handle the case without interference. Kemi Adeosun has refused to comment on the case. A former NYSC director sees inconsistencies in her certificate and believes it is fake. Summary of legitimate fears
Quickly, let me say that Premium Times have a history of publishing incorrect information against the APC-led government. This year alone, they have Premium Times sacks reporter over false report on Miyetti Allah, Fake News from Premium Times on Appropriation, Payments and Control, Libelous Publication: Retract Or Face Suit —Dogara Warns Premium Times, Senate President to sue Premium Times for report on alleged N10bn fraud, Army drags Premium Times to court over "false" news, publication vows to fight back, all of which were intended to put the government in bad light despite being inaccurate. Also, the ex-NYSC DG that supported the findings of the investigation was appointed when a PDP-led government was still in power. Its not unthinkable for him to go against a minister to a government that unseat his employers.
Let me end by saying that I don't have any vested interest neither am I choosing sides here, it could very well be true that she engaged in forgery, but presently individuals in authoritative positions have not spoken. I am just a Wikipedian very cautious of the negative power of Wikipedia.
Support for now: per above, until something more concrete comes up. Believe me, it will definitely come, latest by next week. HandsomeBoy ( talk) 00:38, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
To be honest, you've made some reasonable points here, I strongly believe adding this certificate forgery allegation section should be subject to when it is confirmed by multiple reliable sources. Haylad ( talk) 20:26, 14 July 2018 (UTC)
