I have written this at some length and with fairly detailed footnotes in order:

• To cover an important subject comprehensively, because he provides a career structure which spans many others.
• To provide a starting-point for spin-off articles relating to several important but still redlinked artists (some details in footnotes)
• If and when other articles are forthcoming it may be possible to move these footnote sources out and so reduce the article's kilobyte length.
