What kind of competition?
At present, the article doesn't specify the nature of the competition, i.e., in what activity were the participants competing? I guess from the sentence "Many of the teams also participated in Knowledge Bowl and Quiz Bowl" I guess that it is some sort of trivia competition; is that right?
Separately, is it possible to source the fact that it ended in 2012 / the use of the past tense?
It was a trivia competition. I think it ended in 2014; one of the sources discusses KYVE being discontinued overall in November 2014 and the last announcement of it airing is from April 2014.
