Contrary to other sources, the Biographical Dictionary of the Governors of the United States gives Clayton's parents as John and Grace Clayton. It says John Clayton was a miller and it says Joshua Clayton was a Presbyterian. It says he was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeals, and elected State Treasurer. It gives the date of his election to President of Delaware as May 30, 1789. Finally, it, and other sources, say he died in Philadelphia. Some or all of this information may be correct, but it is either not corroborated or it is contradicted in other sources, which I believe are more reliable. stilltim 21:40, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
