The source Arkansas Biographies (relevant page available for view here
[1] gives Thach's date of birth as April 11, 1906, not the date given in the article. I'm hesitant to "correct" the date, as I suspect the original authors of the article likely had better sources than this omnibus of famous Arkansans. Could someone with access to such sources please confirm?

I'd say that your source is better than an uncited DOB and the article should be changed!.

Be Bold isn't the right way to go. I've had a chance to look at the other online sources, including the official U.S. Navy page that I just added as a general reference for many of the facts (and, indeed, the apparent source of some of the text of the article), and it appears that the Arkansas Biographies date of birth is the outlier. All other sources use the 1905 date, so we'll leave it be.
