No, he's a different person. There is a piece of misinformation in the article Lyman U. Humphrey about Gov. Humphrey having defeated his "Republican predecessor John A. Martin, who was tremendously popular." In fact John A. Martin did not run for re-election in 1888, it was this Democrat John Martin who was defeated by Humphrey in that election at the time when the other John Martin was Governor of Kansas. 128.214.205.5 ( talk) 08:52, 4 March 2010 (UTC) reply
