Jikes and Jikes RVM are separate projects. As a result I think Jikes deserves its own page.
Jikes is also a Java compiler so a link to the Java Compiler page is worth while but Jikes has some unque features that makes it deserving of its own page.
For a brief history on the origin of the word "Jikes", see Jikes Archives. In brief, Jikes was first used for the name of a Java source-to-bytecode compiler. Other, later projects from IBM Research also used Jikes as part of their name, as doing so avoided the need to come up with a new name and run it through the the IBM alphaWorks name review process.
